Meet Michael Cross the visionary British artist whose works bridge the gap between function and poetry. YAF presents Zoka Zola on Wednesday, OCTOBER 15. Owner of Zoka Zola Architecture + Urban Design. In 1995 she was named the UK Young Architect of the Year, and has been complimented on her creative integration of sustainable design. Zoka’s recent work consists of the Zero Energy House, the Solar Tower, a social housing project in Croatia, and several other competition works. She also founded and manages OpenEcoSource.org, a website dedicated to sustainability and increasing the transfer of ecological knowledge in the building industry. We’re proud to announce Joshua Prince-Ramus of REX architects, is coming to Kansas City October 8th! Joshua Prince-Ramus, REX’s president, oversees all aspects of the office’s work. Mr. Prince-Ramus was a founding partner of OMA New York—the American branch of the Rotterdam-based Office for Metropolitan Architecture—and served as its director from 2001 until redefining the U.S. office as REX in 2006. At OMA New York, he was partner-in-charge of the Seattle Central Library and the Guggenheim Hermitage and Guggenheim Las Vegas Museums. Mr. Prince-Ramus received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with distinction from Yale University and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University, where he was the first Araldo Cossutta Fellow and an SOM Fellow. Then Rick Robson, principle environment chemist for Hallmark Cards will present his green home he built in collaboration with Elmwood and the way he uses his passion and philosophy to lead Hallmarks corporate green strategy. 3 Axis, Inc. & Liberty Hardwoods, Inc. Present “Forms of Furniture” a group exhibit to support the American Diabetes Association, featuring artists that are employees 3 Axis, Inc. with Dale Staten. The exhibit runs from March 7 to March 27th and hosts the opening reception First Friday, March 7, 2008 from 6pm to 9pm. The space will also be open to the public on Third Friday, March 22, 2008.
